Volunteer Enrichment Committee (VEC) Events:

The committee is made up of volunteers who work cooperatively with staff members to plan events for Museum volunteers.

All field trips do require a Field Trip Waiver Form be completed before the date of the trip.  The waiver forms are specific for each trip, please make sure you are downloading the correct form(s) for the field trips(s) you plan to attend.

Project C.U.R.E: Providing Healing to the World Field Trip
Thursday, August 25, 2016
9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Meet in the Staff & Volunteer Lounge at 8:30 AM

A team of volunteers unloads a newly arrived van of declared excess, used medical equipment.  Another team determines which medical emergency facility in Uganda could make the best use of that equipment.  A sorting team disperses bandages, fibre cast kits and stents to begin building a pallet of awaiting shipment to the port of Houston, destination: Haiti.  Metro Denver volunteers are readying truckloads to help the world's population in medical need.  If you have a medical background and especially if you don't, this will be an AMAZING and heartfelt tour of you.  Just another example of Colorado's extended handshake to the world.

Please come for a large warehouse facility- please wear closed toed shoes and bring water, as it may be hot inside.  This indoor field trip requires MINIMAL exertion.  A field trip waiver form is required for this field trip.

Thursday, September 15, 2016
4:00 PM-5:00 PM
Classroom to be determined

Join that footloose Italian traveler, Dianne Scialla as she shares with you her greatest passion: Roman art and architecture.  This time we go underground to see inside Nero's Domus Aurea, a palace inaccessible to the public for thirteen years, as well as to the unbelievable Piscina Mirabilis of Naples.  We'll see plenty of frescos along the way, including those from the exquisite villa of Oplontis.  If you've ever wondered how Nero's interior designer painted the royal dining room, this lecture is for you!
