The Volunteer Emeritus Committee Mission is: To provide community connection opportunities for volunteers who have given significant services to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and no longer regularly participates as a volunteer.
The Volunteer Emeritus Committee seeks to bring Volunteer Emeriti together on a regular basis to reconnect with each other, the Museum, and former teammates who are currently volunteering. The Committee also seeks to provide opportunities for Volunteer Emeriti to engage in learning and social activities at DMNS.
Volunteers are encouraged to talk with a member of the Volunteer Engagement Team if they know of a peer who might be a good fit for the Volunteer Emeritus group, or if they themselves would like to be considered. The process by which one becomes an Emeriti begins with a nomination made by a staff member of the Volunteer Engagement Team. An approval process follows, and once a new Emeriti is selected, a member of the Volunteer Emeritus Committee contacts and welcomes them to the group.
As of July 2018, we have 51 honorary volunteer retirees who stay connected with us through Volunteer Emeritus. We offer monthly events for community connection and education with 15 - 25 Emeriti typically in attendance for each event. Emeriti receive invitations to our monthly events by email, postal service, and phone calls made by committee members.
